I'm using the old arpad elo rating system to rank the nfl teams. I use a different rating for wins/losses, for points, & yards, then I average all 3 ratings together. This way the opponent matters as much as the average yards or points scored or wins/losses. The level of competition matters as much as the results just as it does in chess ratings. The accuracy increases as each week passes because there's more results to average into the ratings. After the 5th week here's my top 5.

1. 49ers

2. Eagles

3. Chiefs

4. Cowboys

5. Dolphins

I currently have the Buffalo Bills ranked 7th.

I've got the Ravens at #11.

Of course I'm waiting on the numbers from tonights game between the Packers & Raiders to finish the week 5 list but these 2 teams aren't near the top so their numbers ain't gonna influence any of the top rankings.
