Forum is censored beyond belief

Exactly what the title says. I read a post somewhere that was censored due to the political nature. What’s wrong with people expressing their political views? The chess world is a wide reaching community, surely this community should be entitled to freedom of speech and the ability to express their views without been censored. I fear chess.com is a commercial, money making enterprise though…….
yes cc is a commercial money making chess site , one of the better chess sites available online , it embraces social interaction and chess ,
problems begin in its social media aspect generally over two divisive subjects , politics and religion
politics has become very polarised with folk lashing often abusively if someone has a differing view to the echo chamber the other inhabits so public discussions can turn very nasty
we have all age ranges here and cc have to ensure none if any are attacked online here but enjoy there time spent online at this site , religion can be another divisive subject ,
thats why at present until we can moderate ourselves and not insult others just for having a differing opinion cc moderate these subjects
this includes censorship , ie locking threads
them's the rules , most of us know them if you dont ,then you do now
I appreciate your stance on the matter Mr Finney. It’s a shame people can’t express their views, political or otherwise without getting insulted or abused. I’d like to think that the majority of chess players are moderate and reasonable individuals. I just hope the censorship and locking of threads is actually done for the right reasons and not for the reasons of the fear of alienating payed subscribers.
no worries Fireman C, me i recommend , social media sites that allow discussions of this nature , but even there it can descend into mud slinging ,
there are of course cc teams / groups that allow for it but they can be echo chambers or descend into insultfests
i dont think its possible whilst we still get angry at each other , recently one or two threads , religion ones have been given leeway , and have shown that it is possible to debate contentious issues without insult , but even they got locked eventually
if things are to change then it is down to us , to show we can be mature , i reckon we can but understand cc's stance in the meantime

lol wooly , i bet you love the fact i no longer post cat v dog posts /pics , vids ,, ive matured a bit mate and realised that it just winds you up so i dont anymore , small steps i know , but you gotta make them

My 20s were not too good. Went up hill from 30...pretty much my 30th birthday. Am very happy at 56
I’d love to be 21 again….but with a 42 year old mentality!
Regarding maturity……I’ve just seen a forum post titled ‘I love ass’ 🤣 so I get the point 🤣
