Beautiful set. Did they actually stain the ivory?
I have something similar -- pieces only, no board -- but only the bottoms are marked/painted black.
Have you had any offers on this? I'm wondering what it might be worth, re: insurance.

Genuine Ivory Chess Set for Sale

Hand-carved elephant ivory made in Hong Kong in the 60's (well before the ban in '89, therefore it is 'legal' to sell). The board is 10" folding type with ivory inlay between squares (?). King measures 2". Dark pieces are tea-stained to provide coloration. The set itself is in fantastic condition - display piece and even still has the tags on it!!
