I am a pretty hard core computer nerd and work in the the enterprise computing environment, from fielding calls from internal staff to server maintenance. My wife works in level one IT support and has learned a lot and is pretty competent as far as basic trouble shooting goes. Women being bad with computers is a generalisation, same as all men are bastards. I think it's up to the individual to prove both of these opinions wrong. On the whole though, men in general do have a better knowledge of computers, but in no way does this mean women know nothing. There are many amazingly talented women working in the IT field, and many women programmers have made brilliant contributions to commercial and open spurced projects.
I guess what I am trying to say is that fighting against those sort of sweeping statements won't achieve all that much. As long as your an exception to sucha silly rule, it's all ok :D
BOYS! Will you please stop thinking girls know nothing about computers. You need to stop thinking we don't know what a USB Cable is, or how to fix the internet when it crashes. Alot of boys think I don't know how to set up a printer or how to fix the computer when it has a viurs or how to hack a windows xp computer. It's freaking simply! Stop thinking we don't know anything. It erks me! It erks me so!
