GO AHEAD BASH THE MILITARY AND THE TEACHERS !!!

WHEN we don’t get the results we want in our military endeavors, we don’t blame the soldiers. We don’t say, “It’s these lazy soldiers and their bloated benefits plans! That’s why we haven’t done better in Afghanistan!” No, if the results aren’t there, we blame the planners. We blame the generals, the secretary of defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff. No one contemplates blaming the men and women fighting every day in the trenches for little pay and scant recognition.

And yet in education we do just that. When we don’t like the way our students score on international standardized tests, we blame the teachers. When we don’t like the way particular schools perform, we blame the teachers and restrict their resources

Its easy to point fingers and be critical when we don’t get results. Some recent forums have done just that. They were very critical of teachers and  May was even teacher appreciation month !

I would be worried to go into teaching after reading those remarks.  I agree with Dave Eggers article and include the address for you to read/…

The U.S. military sucks. Fifty years of people signing up, not to protect this country, but to murder people who have not done any harm to this country. That wonderful U.S. military has done nothing but but invade sovereign nations, murdering millions of men, women and children for a sick, twisted imperialistic/corporate agenda. Tearing apart families in tragically unforgettable slaughter.

What are you smoking? I recommend you cease immediately as brain damage is readily apparent. Should you ever recover your senses, I recommend that you immediately aologize to the nearest U.S. military veteran and thank him or her for providing you with the freedom that tolerates the making of such assinine remarks.

If you hate this country and our military so much, just get out. Somehow, I think we'll get by without you.

P.S. - Please seek professional help. You are delusional.

Today is the 67th anniversary of the D-Day invasion. I sincerely hope that none of our WWII veterans will read what that fool posted. People that risked their lives to end the horrors of facism and those who do so now to rid the world of terrorists should never have to read such tripe.

Thank you to all veterans of the U.S. military and our Allies. Your sacrifices have made our world a better place!

What a bunch of simple-minded, jingoistic throw-up. If you can't think beyond idiotic propaganda from a country responsible for the murder, crippling, torture, and displacement of millions of people around the world for no good reason, then please get sterilized. The world does not need another one of you.

1pawndown I agree with you there...My grandfather was awarded the purple heart in the army. He was on Baton . They were there as a distraction during the war. They were captured by the Japanese at that time....( just telling the story not bashing anyone)

They marched 100 miles up the coast line. no water or food and because they did not want US forces to track them.. They had to carry their injured and cover their tracks in the sand as they went.

When they arrived at their destination they were smuggled on cargo ships into japan. The US navy was in the harbor but never knew the civilian cargo ships carried the US Army captives.

Grandpa was called  "Sugar Daddy" .  He loved his men and would do anything for them. As they marched up the coast a sugar cane field appeared. He risked his life darting in and out of the field. Bringing sugar cane pieces to his platoon. It was the only moisture and food they had for the 100 mile forced march.

They would have shot him on the spot if they had caught him..The POW camp was liberated  2 years after that time. He has passed away, but The purple heart and his picture hangs on my parents wall to this day.

God Bless the USA !

MsJean, you are rightfully proud of your Grandfather and his fellow soldiers, who courageously faced the infamous Death March.

Kevin, if you think "trysts'" comments make this country great calling heoes like MsJean's Grandfather "murderers," I feel sorry for you. You may criticize the goverment, but that is not the same thing as calling those who laid down their lives for our freedom criminals. Question the goverment for sending troops to Vietnam. That is dissent. Call the men and women that answered the country's call anything less than heroes is disrespectful and ignorant.

The men and women presently overseas and in harms way to eliminate terrorism deserve the respect and admiration of all of us at home.

Terrorism...You must live in a g*ddamned cave with a TV set going 24/7, or you have the State Department BS plugged into your skull. Christ! How you do anything while you're in a coma, is beyond me.

Well the Afghans. need some sort of income from somewhere.

KeViN246

depends on your point of view pawn. im sure to the families of soldiers and civilians killed by american soldiers, they are murderers. we think the same of the enemy. however, in america, tryst can speak his mind without fear of jail or even death. what makes america great. just because you disagree with him doesnt give you the right to take his freedom of speech. doesnt give the govt. the right either. its what theyre fighting for over there.

Well the U.S. military has made it safe for pharmaceutical companies to produce more opiates, and for the CIA to operate out of the income of those fields. And even with the rise of opium at 35% since the horrible U.S. invasion of Afghanistan, I doubt the Afghans are making much from it. I guess Laos, another country the U.S. invaded which happened to be an opium producer, should have warned the Afghans.

themothman

How's your german trysts?  Get rid of the military, no one ever thought of that one.  While we're at it, let's completely ignore the terrorists.

1pawndown

Your logic eludes me, Kevin. The right of free speech does not include the right to defame another or to falsely accuse another of a crime. I sincerely doubt any of our U.S. service men and women are abroad defending the right of anyone to call them murderers. You obviously cannot grasp the concept that disagreeing with a govermental decision is far different than accusing a fellow citizen of being a criminal for carrying out his individual mission.

ivandh

And the ad hominem starts.

oh KEVIN !
