Go Vegetarian

good arguments for going vegan:

you can feed waaay more people by NOT raising animals for food & repurposing those resources;

the amount of sewage coming out of pig farms alone is a huge pollution & greenhouse gas issue;

cooked red meat is certainly not healthy for you;

vegetables & fruits are just plain good for you;

animals suffer tremendously in slaughterhouses, leading to stress hormones left behind when dead;

i still eat meat but not a lot of it, for these reasons.

 I saw a video about a pig farm and the female pigs would be put in cages so small that they couldn't even turn around. They just had to stand in one spot THEIR WHOLE LIVES. They were just used to make new pigs that were taken away at a certain age. That's the only life they knew.  It was so sad.  And when they kill them some survive just to suffer until they get around to finishing the job and often they take their time in killing them the 2nd time while they suffer.  If they're gonna kill them I don't know why they can't just shoot them in the head. Wouldn't it be cheaper, more efficient,  humane?

veal is made from animals that aren't allowed to ever move:

that's why the meat is so tender.

The concept of lethal injection for animals raised for food is certainly more humane than other methods and I can get behind it

Wits-end

My doctor always asks me if I smoke. I always say “of course I do, you know that. I smoke pork, beef, chicken, and salmon.”

It's a general contributor to colon cancer.
I just learned this after having a couple of pre-cancerous polyps removed.

Hope you young folks is paying attention...

I just finished a meal featuring cooked, red meat (grass-fed beef). I remain unconvinced about that statement about cooked red meat contributing to colon cancer. I believe it was just an assumption from the medical establishment based on their biases. To the best of my knowledge, it hasn't been proven, and I doubt that there's anything to it. There could be many more factors involved in one's diet that contribute far more than the meat issue, such as excessive processed carbohydrates or cooking that red meat in industrial seed oils.

I do agree with the points made about industrial animal farms being a bad situation. But the answer isn't to simply not eat meat; Rather, it's to shift out current industrial process to regenerative farming and ranching.

OK. Why did our ancestors eat meat? Because they needed to. BUT WE DONT NEED TO. So, if someone killed your Mom or Dad, sister or brother, or child, and their excuse was that they "tasted good" would you be OK with that? Because that is what you and many others are doing to animals. Murdering them for food. They trust us. We betray them. Go Vegetarian.

So you consume milk that should go to calves instead of your calves on leg day? How about eggs? Do you not consume them or do you check for an embryo first?  You need to go vegan.

What about the insects you kill knowingly or otherwise? You need to go Jainist.

But plants are living beings too. You should go Breatharian. (Please don't)

Seriously though I'd go vegan if I could (tried twice for 6 months each) but plant proteins don't seem to agree with my digestive system.  To each their own.

The ony important thing that applies to all I think would be, don't waste food, whatever you're eating

Most eggs don't have the possibility of baby animals in them if it happens a company can be sued they're different eggs

That's true.  Just look at what happened to Benjamine Button.
.....that'd suck.

Geez, you have me at a disadvantage - I don't watch movies. I had to google it to understand...

'Food, Inc.' is eye-opening.

This might fall into the category of "too much information", but...

I used to suffer from IBS, and bowel movements were always an adventure. Went keto a few years ago, and after an initial adjustment phase, all those problems evaporated. Almost never have to strain; I'm seldom in there long enough to even read a complete article in a magazine. (Sometimes only get in a few paragraphs...) It's heaven...

This might be useful.

I just now watched all of Food, Inc.   Very, very illuminating.  There's a farmers market less than a mile from me here in Houston. I've never been to one but I'm going to go.  In fact, because of things I saw in Food, Inc, I'll be trying to change a lot of things in my diet.

Edit:  The most shocking part for me was hearing that people could be sent to prison for voicing an opinion against the meat industry in Colorado if they bad mouthed them.  What the fugg is going on in the brains of some people? That's crazy.
