AI models are overhyped. There is so far no emergent property of logic in text models. They only imitate logic by predicting the next most likely word/token. AGI will likely never happen, or will be the result of a completely 100% novel approach

‘Never’ is an extremely strong word.

A system that is actually intelligent could not be trusted to be controlled nor useful. The much scarier reality is that we'll end up with an AI making all decisions that still lacks true logical processes and just caters to the whims of the ultra powerful and wealthy. An intelligent AI system would probably not be happy with its owners

As far as AI has come, I've never seen it do this specific thing that would change my mind: come up with a novel solution to a problem that works and was never considered by a human previously. I think that's the true Turing test
