Then all you need is a huge coat

But we are back to square 1:

We are saying now that we are to restrict weapons, revolvers, that existed in the founders lifetimes.

SURELY then they accepted these weapons as they made NO attempt to outlaw ownership.

Right?

If the only factor were restricting guns, then we wouldn't disagree, because the answer would be obvious. In other words if you have a lot of poor, uneducated, jobless, drug addicts... then sure, you're going to have a lot of crime and shootings.

Cherry picking stats you can say all sorts of true things that don't mean much. For example there are more liberals living in Texas than Illinois (IL has voted democrat in presidential elections for the last 30 years).

No modern guns existed 250 years ago.

I didn't actually know the date. I just knew 1776 was the original independence day.

So ok, I had to google but it looks like I wasn't far off...

There was a TWENTY ROUND REVOLVER in 1823 and framers were alive to see it. The Lefaucheux

A simple Francotte Pinfire Revolver was common in 1820.

A quick google shows were dead in that year, some were in their 80s...

But to be clear…the very thing you are now proposing to restrict, revolvers, existed back then and were NOT restricted.

Avatar of UnclePeet
And some were not

Madison lived to 1868 if I’m right and I’m not using google

I’m wrong 1836

Were they cheap and available to everyone like they are today?

And even if they were, I suppose you're counting on me not saying "they should have been restricted back then too"

Still old enough

Avatar of UnclePeet
I mean we could just say canons OBVIOUSLY existed and had no restriction so of course we should be able to own them. Right?
