Yeah honestly as a guy I'd be really flattered if a girl said she liked me to my face. However if it ends up not working out and he just sees you as friends, don't take it personally, its an uncomfortable situation for him. I've had to deal with this personally and it kind of ruins the friendship when I don't like the girl back. Bottom line is just make it natural and don't push it too hard
