Help
Um...I don't think using something like gofundme or asking for donations online is generally a good idea because people don't have a way of knowing whether it is a scam or not. I think the best way is to do it through the school and your corresponding school district. With their help you could show up at PTA meetings and tell them you have some kind of program approval from the school or the school district. Then tell parents to consider signing up their kids for the chess club. If you explain to them specifically what the money would go into, show some sort of expenses list, then ask a little but from anybody who wants to give you may have some success. That would be the best way because people who are potential donors are the ones whose kids are actually involved with the school.
I don't know your age or position at the school, but if you are a student it is best to get a teacher sponsor who'd be willing to go to the PTA meetings and tell the parents about the chess club.
