It's a type of question known as a "Fermi problem".

I find that hard to believe.

Does Kasparov counted ?

Bobby Fischer doesn't.

I'd stand a better chance of becoming a piano tuner - and I can't play that at all!

Art, what happens in Oslo, stays in Oslo. Thanks for the interesting post. I bookmarked the Fermi-Wiki page.

This is a great topic because I will be needing a chess coach while I am in Oslo. But what I really need to know is, how many chess coaches are there on the journey to Oslo? How many chess coaches does it take to screw in a light bulb and how many chess coaches should it take to screw in a light bulb?

1. Will you be travelling by professional coach to Oslo?

2. The number of coaches (on a train) is an even more fascinating topic - if that's even possible.

I said " Does Kasparov counted ? " I wasn't joking cause Kasparov is coaching Carlsen in Oslo and you said, Artfizz- " Bobby Fischer doesn't. " ?? huh ? Bobby dead ! what had that got to do with it ?  Undecided

1. Strictly speaking, we must count Kasparov - even though he is busy and would probably not agree to coaching just anybody. I doubt whether he adheres to the "cab-rank rule".

2. Where is Bobby Fischer buried? If in Oslo, then he could be counted among the chess coaches there.

Avatar of kco

Agreed with nos 1 for nos 2 Bobby was buried near Reykjavik, Iceland  not in Norway !

Q. - Who did Bobby Fischer ever coach?

A. - Nobody!

Not a coach.

Not in Oslo.

Definitely dead.

Doesn't count.

So the current forecast is 1.5

Only two books, from the greatest player who ever lived, and from what I've read, he didn't even write most of the text. Sorry, I'm not a Bobby Fischer fan. All he gave the world were his moves and his moves were devoted to making himself world champion. After he became world champion he denied the world of his gift. Chess gave him everything - but he gave nothing back to chess.
