How to deal with flamewars in the chats.

Sort:

Just reach out to one of the staff via a message and if you have proof of it (such as a copy and paste of the dialogue) put it in the message.

Ok, so I am watching top game and these two guys start arguing about religion (lots of swear words and heretical threats were used). Naturally as a typical member I attempt to defuse the argument but then lots more people are drawn in and start insulting each other. Then I get insulted and sworn at for trying to keep the peace. What do I do??

The first thing you do is start a Thread so that you can get piled on.

Its YOU, you silly rascal.  So science and no higher power.  Did your parents not believe in a higher power, too?

My parents believed in a higher power. I think I have mostly talked my mom out of it though.

In order for something to be real, it must be seen?  Do you both now believe that after death, there is truly nothing?

ONLY ONE WAY TO FIND OUT!

But I'm too lazy to do it because its my Christmas break.

simple, make a second account and start arguing with yourself until your topic becomes a hot topic

LOL. Actually thats a great idea! These forums and chats tend to get dull at times. I try to liven them up whenever I can. As for you atheists I know exactly where you are all going but am not permitted to tell you. The staff around here likes to lock forums just as they start to get interesting.

What if an atheist lives a good moral life?  Never commits any sins or trespasses?

Does he still go where you know exactly where he's going?

mbh1999

Every one sins. Period.

That is true, but sin my actually mean something other than what you think it means.  The actual meaning, as said by my political philosophy professor, is 'missing the mark' in terms of archery where you aim at teh center of the target and you miss that center in ancient Greek.  When translated into English, it means an imperfection in you day.  You cannot have me believe that every thought you have is pure or that you  have not somehow offended somebody in the smallest way imaginable.

It's impossible for any human (Christian, Jew, athiest, agnostic, lava lap spritualist, etc.) not to sin.

Are you at least using the correct definition of sin, or are you using the common Christian misinterpretation that has become the staple definition in today's society?

You know what? This discussion has gone so far off-topic that I'm not going to try and regulate any more.

What did you expect when you drag the word religion back into your opening post? You reaped what you sowed Pal.

I got a sin for you here:

Yes, the unforgiveable one. I am insulted that you would group the atheist sins together with your meager little sins. I commit the big one. I blaspheme the holy spirit, here, on the record, in the internet.

Top that.

1. In what respect is it your responsibility to intervene?

2. Disable chat if you need to.

3, Stay out of the Forums if they bother you.

4. Complain to Management.

5. Why would you pay attention to a couple of half wits making completely subjective statements and thinking it/a a debate?

You asked what to do when there's a "flame war" because you obviously couldn't figure it out on your own. I provided you with a reference sheet numbered 1 to 5 for ease of use. Instead of getting belligerant, you should thank me and go study your reference sheet. You may want to locate some similar lists for tasks that baffle you in your daily life such as wiping your ass.

It's the truth. I responded just for kicks. I have fun sometimes and some people are just boring like you and disagree with people enjoying themselves.

Sin is the translation for the Greek word 'hamartia' which means to, in archery, aim at the target and miss it.  Thus, 'sin' means to miss the mark so to speak in the way that we are not perfect and we make mistakes, similar to how missing the bulls-eye on the target is a mistake when firing an arrow.

Then I commited two sins, because I wanted to blaspheme the whole trilogy (the christian pantheon), but I missed and only hit the holy spirit.

I will try to aim better next time.
