How to post a game ...

I am aware (somewhat) of how to post a game (or puzzles/position) in the forums; however, I am sure I do not currently know ALL of the features. Sure, many people ask "how to post a game?" or similar questions - and these have been answered via forums, articles, chess.com help etc. Additionally, some people (myself included) can post proficiently on a computer, but have subtle troubles posting a game on a mobile device. Of course, "practice makes perfect", and simply "messing around" with the features is a great way to learn.

That is why I created this "forum topic" - so anyone can try posting games to see what works and what does not; you could even then delete it at the end if you do not want anyone seeing your failed attempt to post the game in the way you wanted etc. This can be used casually to learn the chess.com resources of posting (not just games, for example: commenting citations, showing analysis lines for candidate moves, placing hyperlinks, and so on). If anyone wants to utilize this forum regularly, you could even create/copy the hyperlink to save this as a shortcut to reach this forum topic.

I am also sure that most chess.com members will not want to be notified every time someone wants to practice something on this forum, so uncheck to bottom-right "follow" button so you will not be alerted every moment someone posts practice content. I expect most will delete the posted games when done, but this is not mandatory; many could even leave up helpful tips for posting, shortcut ideas, favorite posting functions etc.

I may even use this forum myself, at some point, but I really hope that many will find it helpful to them; perhaps I can save some chess.com members some time and effort - at least streamline the basic learning process for newer chess.com members.

Good luck with everyone's posting practice happy.png

I can post a game but my included text never shows up. I right click to add text and then when I post 5he game the text is not there. Why?

Ironically, one of the reasons I made this forum was for this reason (I had many other reasons too though). I recall not being able to post analysis lines and text in a posted game, but then "messing around" with the features for a while and figuring out how to do it. Sadly, that was months ago; now I can't remember how I did it sad.png I know differences exist between the site and app, but I could not list them all. I think I "solved" it on the website (computer, not mobile device), but now can't remember how I did it.

If I solve it again, I'll let you know how I did it LouStule.

LouStule, I was "messing around" with the features again and I recall how I did it before. Perhaps it is not the best way ... but I used "analysis" mode. From there I simply re-played the game moves and then simply got the pgn when done. You can right-click the moves to add annotations and such here, and they show up when you post a game! I hope this solves your problem, but there is probably a better way to do this than through "analysis."

Just testing how to post videos into forums without embarrassing myself wink.png

Looks fairly straight-forward by "Insert/edit media" icon in the post text box, similar to how one would post a pgn game in the forums.
