An SMS text is likely scam if:
-the sender’s number is a casual number and they say they are associated with the government (the number should be an official number, not a casual personal number)
-the sender sends a link that begins with https://google.com/url?q= This is a Google redirect. Scammers commonly use this to mask the real site (because victims would easily know if it’s fake or legit if you blurt out the site name).
-the website does NOT use a Google redirect and blurts out the name, and is not an official site of the company (or whatever they are impersonating)
If you receive an SMS text on a missing package, ask yourself: “did I ever order a package from this company?” And if the number is a casual personal number, it is a scam. Delete the conversation and if you are on iPhone, tap “delete and report junk”
