How to spot AI writing
🤣✅
For essays, I've used ChatGPT and then used Grammarly to humanize it. AI is getting dangerously good at covering people's tracks.
They aren't 100% accurate but you can use multiple to get more accurate results
This thread wasn't just interesting — it was informative. Before, I had no idea about the different ways that AI could write; I was totally in the dark. But now, this transformative thread has sucked me in and uh
I give up writing like AI is hard :/
honestly the whole tone of AI is another big giveaway, it tends to glaze everything it talks about in the most artificial writing voice ever
Im gonna keep this short and simple and try to make it fit on the app too. You hear that? The keyword is try. I’m gonna paste a paragraph here, which you should read after you read all the points.
Wings of Fire isn’t just a book series — it’s a journey that pulls you into a world full of imagination, emotion, and unforgettable moments. It makes you feel like you’re flying beside the dragons, experiencing every victory, struggle, mystery, and twist with them. The characters feel real, the world is vivid, and the message of courage, friendship, and hope stays with you long after you stop reading. It’s the kind of story that inspires you to dream bigger and believe in impossible things. Wings of Fire isn’t just something you read — it becomes a part of you.
1. It isn’t just X, It’s Y.
- This is one of the biggest pointers which points to whether it’s AI generated text or not. AI, especially/mostly ChatGPT just LOVES using this phrase everywhere. Here’s an example- ‘This video wasn’t just amazing — it was breathtaking.’ See that? A few days ago, I was watching a video with my parents about some topic when I saw the excessive overuse of the “it isn’t just X — It’s Y”. This is very noticeable and if you want to spot something which you suspect is generated by AI, then this is one of the best ways to find out.
2. Em dashes, semi colons, Oxford commas.
- if you don’t know what an em dash is, it’s this: — It’s used by AI but many people use it in books or in other places too, so you shouldn’t rely on this much.
- this is a semicolon- ; It is used to connect 2 sentences which are related to each other, like for example- I love reading; it helps me relax. I took help from AI to generate this sentence because I couldn’t come up with one on my own 😆 anyways it isn’t also a big indicator- people normally use it too.
- find the sentence which uses an Oxford comma.
a. I’m going to buy apples, oranges and bananas.
b. I’m going to buy apples, oranges, and bananas.
The sentence where there is a comma before “and” is a sentence using the Oxford comma. It is also used before “or”. This is very hard to notice and probably not worth your time.
So the paragraph at the starting- I asked ChatGPT to make me a paragraph about wings of fire.
