How would our world look?

Ladies and gentlemen!

I have sent a secreat agent, mr Macahi to the year 1812, to convince my buddy Napoleon, not to chase the Russians into the cold east. Now if mr Macahi succeeds, how will today's world look?

You sure? I think it would be better.

the whole universe would implode because you created a paradox.

What is the paradox in there?

if mr Macahi changed history then a new time line would happen as a result and the Napoleon not chasing Russian timeline would be discarded. as a result no-one in the present day would be able to send someone back in time to do so as it's just normal history so they wouldn't send anyone back just to make the battle happen exactly as it did.

this is not including people who would've survived/died as a result of this and maybe Macahi would never have been born.

I'm not sure... If it works that way, then you can't change anything, because if it's different in the present, you don't want to change it.

going back in time is risky going forward although carries some risk is more safer.

I thought Napoleon was chased from the cold East by the Russians, same as Hitler was?

Napoleon kept chasing the Russians into east europe, and winter came, the Russians destroyed everything as they were going, and so Napoleon's men started freezing and starving.

..but if Napoleon had concentrated his efforts on what he had maybe his empire would have lasted longer?  I think it may have lasted a little longer but I suspect but international royalty found his ideology troubling, as it may have been contagious amongst the downtrodden poor, and the Kings would have sought his downfall by invasion.  After all, the elite do have a God-given right to govern...don't they?

No they don't.

Oh, well I apologise.  The history I was taught said that they do.  And, by their words and actions it would seem that they really believe it. It's why they always murder people who disagree.

Avatar of IlMave

No need to apologize for difference of opinion.

That they believe it, doesn't mean that it's true.

Wo, 'ang on a minute.  I said 'the history that I was taught'; doesn't mean that I believe the 'history taught by the winners' :-)
