Get wood, stone tools, furnace and bed in day 1. You can try find a village too

When you find the village, set your base there, farm crops, animals, trade with villagers, make an iron farm if possible

If you’re scared of caves, strip mine. You can also lower your “ambiance sounds” for not hearing that creepy sounds

Simple. Get wood, if you're too scared of caves (which you shouldn't if playing Minecraft) either turn off your sound or just mine downwards in search of iron (not straight down!) if you get good iron, and still don't want to go to a cave, you would expect to need diamonds. Actually, no! Make a bucket, create a border of dirt, stone, or whatever, cover it with water and make the nether portal using buckets of lava!

Mining straight down 2×1 is the best

You can not basically fall if you mine the other block while standing on another

And water bucket or ladders to get up

Try practicing water clutches, they are really useful in the end
