Teenagers are kids.
My favourite is when they say "I'm not a kid, how dare you, I'm 14!"
But yeah, some kids are fine, B1ZMARK for example.
I know from himself that he's 17. When does one stop being a child, in your estimate?

from what i've seen, all the adults are busy arguing in these 40,000 topic posts about stuff like global warming, is chess a sport, covid discussion moderated etc
If we had some moderators who were willing to enforce the posting rules and remove the pointless crap from all the kids, then there might be some room for adult (or at least mature) posters here.
Don't blame the moderators. Mods take their cue directly from administrators. The current policy seems to be to lock threads about cheating and remove personal attacks that reach a certain level of inappropriateness. Pretty much anything else goes. It seems they want the forums to be all about numbers and hits with quality not even in the running. I blame the Community Manager-- or Mismanager in this case.
Sounds harsh, but let's be scientific about it. Let them survey, at random, anyone who has been somewhat active on the forums over the last 2 years or more, and ask whether they think things have gotten better or worse.
For the sake of people's jobs, I assume they'd much rather point to the raw numbers e.g. "we have ___ posts per day, things are looking good!"
But hey, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe things are trending upwards... do a poll of people who have been around a while and find out
We could, but then they would just engage in arguments about recurring topics with recurring arguments while being drunk. Topics like "Is chess a sport or a game?"
- repeated topics
- drunk adults
- narcissist adults
- U r racist! No u.
- spammy kids
- kids with toilet humor
- trolls
- recurring topics
- closing my account / I am back
- Rick roll
- some drama
- brilliant moves (I decided to follow this trend recently 'cause I needed to brag to feel good about pathetic self)
Here we go. Chess.com forums.
thats about all of them forums in a nutshell
I don't know what this has to do with anything
Of course you don't. 8 posts in 8 years. Literally 1 post a year average.
I've let kids post here, even though I dislike them, but for some reason this really bugs me... I'll probably unblock you later.
This is hardly off topic but maybe not general either. Probably either community or site feedback since this topic IS about this site and community. Off topic is just that, anything not connected to chess or this site.

Community would make the most sense, but that will attract the people who are here for just the social media aspect (i.e, the topic of this thread).

Sounds harsh...
That doesn't make it any less true.
The people I find the most annoying on the site, are the kids who create an account, spam weird forums, but don’t actually play chess.....

Does one game a day count as "not actually playing chess"
Possibly, but I feel like I’ve achieved a somewhat respectable rating, and I study in my free time
I’m a kid, and I agree with this
same here
