The caption says it. I just wonder what the western pieces would look like—assume that pieces that share names in both Chess and Shoge would have similar forms.
Also, since some captured pieces can be converted to work for the capturer—assuming that you wanted black and white pieces and you wanted clean simple designs...
Maybe a rotatable "cap" on each piece that could point either direction?
