Finally, Will decided on two possibilities. R00K and Torch both had experience being in armies and could handle guarding. He was fairly sure he could trust them too, as they were both good at keeping secrets.
He wished so bad he could tell Slash, but he knew it wasn't safe. He wasn't as sure how SLash would react.
Letters wouldn't be safe through the postal service, and neither would talking with them. So he decided to write letters but deliver them himself. The letters he wrote read
"Greetings from Will.
I'm sure you've noticed how quiet I've been recently. I promise it's nothing against you. The real reason for why, well, you'll find that out if you decide to sign the statement below.
I am studying a new technology that was discovered and reconstructed with help from an old friend of mine and some of the builders who were working on a few other city projects. I need people who can guard the place I am working while I am there and when I am not, as when I am there I will be unable to defend against any incomers, and while I am away the technology will be unguarded.
Your pay will be 200 coins higher than your daily pay in the army. I promise this money is coming from a legal source.
If you do not wish to accept the following terms, I ask you keep the little information revealed here private. These are the terms if you accept:
1. You may not tell anyone of what you learn while guarding.
2. The only people you may speak to regarding the technology when on duty are any other guards who happen to be on duty, and me.
3. You will be given a break every two days alternating between any other guards allowing you to leave your shift and go on a break for 24 hours. You may not speak of the technology when on this break.
4. On days when you are not on break while sleeping accommodations will be provided, you will need to still guard overnight in shifts, meaning one guard must always be awake and alert.
5. If you want to accept but have issues with any of this, you may discuss with me privately at my home. However, do not mention the technology or anything related to it, only your issues with the terms.

Will walked into town on his normal food shopping day, and luckily found both Torch and R00K in different parts of the main square. Will subtly slipped the letters into each's pocket, then continued on his shopping as normal. Now he would simply wait for a response.

Torch signs this immediately, wanting to regain purpose in his life. After his absence, he was unable to fight for anyone, and this was his chance to redeem himself
Will felt relieved. Torch had already signed and returned the letter, and R00K might be able to sign in the future. In the meantime, he would need to find a second temporary replacement guard for R00K. Once he had one, he would explain everything at the site.

Lol I confused things.
It was time to find guards. The next testing sessions would take at least 5 hours, far too long to be safe without anyone guarding the door.
However, getting the guard cycles to line up would be challenging. He would need them to appear as though they weren’t guarding at all, or else if someone did get in the guards would only arouse suspicion. The more he thought about it, the more it became clear that the only way was to position them inside the inner chamber-which meant revealing what the secret really was. He would need people he could trust completely.
