Why post in the Off Topic forum which is not monitored by staff?
Last year, after the Flash ads crashed my browser repeatedly and the clanging symbols knocked me out of my chair, I had to give in and download AdBlock. (See this thread: Blocking Ads? Well played )
They stopped that type of ad after a bunch of complaints and I opened up chess.com again. I am sorry to hear that it has become a problem again.
Dear sir or madam.
To whom it may concern,
I posted a comment about intusive aural advertising, and recieved, what I consider to be an evasive and duplicitous reply from chess.com - can anyone please add more info. i believe that to allow sudden aural interference while playing blitz or bullet chess, to be an insult to the players and to the game, the visual adverts are bad enough, but can be ignored. I understand you are a business and need to generate income, but for someone who plays as much as myself, surely, i also work for free for chess.com ?
I believe that the response to my original post from the purported member of staff (Eric) see above - is disingeniousness to the Nth degree - ''hover over an aural advertisment' for the purpose of reporting its source to yourself ! ? exactly how to you hover over a sound ? I believe even Eric does not know that. Also the adverts are not for some disreputable product like pornography of gambling, or dodgy medicines, but by the very huge and reputable 'dettol' - at least reputable in the UK. they have a huge advertising budget, and when i spoke with them , although the guy didn't know off hand about adverts on chess.com, he has asked me to write a letter. He did however agree that the likelyhood of any pirate adverts existing for there products was extremely unlikely. so the concusion is that chess.com is being paid for these aural adverts, fair enough, it's your business, but why the duplicity, in pretending these are some random pop up phenomena ? yours WIKIPAWN aka Vincent
