Anyone who reads through the whole thing will see that this thread is neither political nor religious.

It's a history discussion.

Yes, I agree. Also a good medium for research too.

I do hope that it keeps that theme the fundies seem to be systematically taking over thread after thread on here.

You cannot have a decent discussion without getting sent to hell or so it seems Sealed

It IS similar to going to a Mosque and claiming Christianity. I get that. What needs to be understood is that "great Christian group" was an INVITE. It turned into a huge debate, arguing, then to straight up nastiness at times. Why? Because others got in there with their mockery and disagreements. Of course there is going to be defending going on from ALL sides and from the beginning that started.

So when you say fundies systematically taking over thread after thread on here, I see it too. Heck, I've added stuff as well. However, I'm not for the cramming down the throat routine. I do know that in every subject, for a Christian, God can be implemented. Especially the ones that talk about death, Satan, and Christianity. Look at the treads where this occurred in. they all have something in common. Everyone has their say on here. Everyone should respect the thread they are in. Guarantee tho, if another Christian thread comes up in "off topic", there will be the same issue/result as "great Christian group".
As OP if you don't like it, you have the right to shut that person down.

Completely understood.

Here's a thought, eh never mind. Maybe another time.

Ghost, pictures are fascinating. Pure evil. For Tom, you know you are being watched. You have thrown yourself out TO be watched. When you say you are love, you sure do mock and mock only 2 things and that is God and Christians so what I've seen. Why do you think that is?
Love is perfect, and none of us our perfect. love wouldn't do that.

Ghost, hope you don't mind my rant on here. I mean, you did call me your chaplain so who else to hear it from?! Yes? 😎

I know you well enough Mex to recognise that you're accepting of diverse views and you don't proselytise. I don't mind the rant, but 'invite only' isn't viable on a forum, that isn't how internet forums work. If this is what they are looking for why didn't they set up a group?

Nobody 'invited' dtf15 in here but that didn't stop him coming in here anyway (see previous page) and he's all over a number of other threads like a rash; it's quite aggressive actually.

It doesn't look like they want a closed, 'invite only' group to me.

Umm, not sure if Ghost is saying I can post. But of course if he doesn't want me to 'evangelise' on his forum I'm not going to.

I would like to talk about the forum topic though?

I just want to make clear that the forum rules say “no religious or political debate on the regular forums”. I had understood that 'off topic' was not a 'regular' topic, so I thought it was okay.

I would not have posted on “Christian Group” and other forums if I had understood off topic as a 'regular' forum. So I won't be posting anymore like I have been.

Ghost they did set up a group. The "great Christian group" was the invite to the other group. As in advertising, hey we're over here, come and join! But yes, it is up for anyone to comment hence, what transpired.
The only way to learn from each other is to have an open mind. To have a healthy debate is to know when to and when not to say something.

Aight I'm out. Until next time.

I completely agree but here's the rub: he's not a Christian - you're a Christian, he's a fundamentalist.

Fundies aren't interested in honest debate because their minds are closed, they don't accept alternate views and they won't recognise anybody's right to hold alternate views either. These people are just as bad as ISIS, or the Communist Party, or Khmer Rouge. They're not as militarised that's true, but given different circumstances they'd be executing people as well, you'd better believe it. In fact, they are executing people - the extremist wing of the 'Pro Life' movement has tooled up and attacked abortion clinics in the States, there have been some deaths. Now there's an ironic name for you: Pro Life ... yeah right.

Not all fundies are religious by the way. I already mentioned the CP, but some atheists are just as dogmatic as any religious zealot you care to point out; the so-called 'New Atheists', the movement which has grown around figures like Sam Harris, Christopher Hitchens and Richard Dawkins for example (Dawkins is probably the least awful of the three but he also can be pretty bad sometimes). "This is THE truth, which MUST be accepted."

Sure no Pastafarian worth his or her salt would give any of these people the time of day.

You've already demonstrated that you're incredibly not very good at absorbing anything that hasn't been endorsed by Answers in Genesis and you just demonstrated it again - I'd have thought even someone like you would to be able to decipher #420.

What part of: "bugger off and don't come back in here again" don't you understand?

Mmm - interesting. For several of us in these forums, I have had exchanges with FP the last couple of day, there seems to be an ongoing issue as of late.

Let's take it outside of any affliations.

Let us say that I love talking about cars for example (which I don't by the way), if your prefered mode of transportation is a motorcycle or a bus or a boat or a plane, then that is your choice.

If I keep on and on to you that cars are a superior mode of transportation to a bus/bike/boat/plane & I keep on insisting over and over again in every conversation that we have together, that this happens to be definately true. Then sooner or later, I am going to sound a little obsessed & rather mad.

If further along, you insist that you have the right to your own views & preferences & I walk past that point again & again without due consideration, then somewhere along that line, you will undoubtably become somewhat angry.

You have stated your position, have mentioned your preference as being a bus/boat etc. And still I persist in telling you about cars.

Not only that, I also start mentioning how cars operate, what the best part of a car happens to be, where the best place to shop for a car is. And it is cars, cars and more ducking cars that I will insist on talking about. Weather you want to or not.

I don't want to listen to your transportation favourites at all. Because, I happen to be the one who knows that cars are superior to any other form of transportation. And you will surely be damned if you do not get one, or see what I am saying to you.

Now, all of this sounds quite mad doesn't it?

Yet, we listen to some people like this all the time. They get fixated in an agenda & have a monoply on the truth.

It is all psychologically quite fascinating.

Well, there is this:

although it should be noted that it has drawn criticism from within the field of cognitive psychology.

ah now that area - taken out of the box I find intriguing.

Maslow was into this area via the development of transpersonal psychology back in the '60's.

A time of experimentation, so I hear Sealed

I am interested too in what are the common denominators in these experiences?

Less so the differences.

William James was an early pioneer in this area too
