Time was running out for both of us
The battle felt long and hard fought
Yet within the 10 minutes of tension & aggression
we found a common interest but what that mutuality was I'm not exactly sure.
In every contention,
conquer the enemy you must,
but lo,
once in a while, an opponent will come along
who is more of an ally than a foe
Meet an ally I did,
we mimicked and we ryhmed, we were polite to each other, nothing was claimed without permission.
It was a gentleman's agreement
But incidentally, time was the determining factor,
and the ending would be the climax
as the war unfolded,
his king was staring at the tip of a blade;
a check posed by my queen.
I had a fewer seconds left,
but what I lacked in time, I had gained in touch.
In an effort of self-defence,
he order his queen to cover him,
she stepped up, abreast with his king,
I perceived, that he sought for the queens to both perish,
and that the two kings would call the battle off,
and come to agree to disagree.
So the two queens locked eyes, ready to die
10 seconds left for me & I moved my queen aside,
the white queen, she had worked hard,
her efforts would not go down in vain!
She took vector to the left and found
an opening to check the cowardly king again,
in haste, the black king step back,
breaking away from his queen
Now my loyal castle, who for much of the time,
had been lurking in the shadows, majestic in his knightly apparel,
stepped forth to drive the king further back,
the black king stepped back helplessly,
alas,
his eyes inquiring of my king as if it was betrayal.
My king failed to look at him, and stared into the distance,
as pillars of sand would be,
it was a friendship founded on enmity,
The embattled king turned to his queen,
a battlehardened empress, black, bold & beautiful,
but even she was unresponsive,
as she was unwilling to step up, and die by the sword of a lowly castle,
the king took his final step to the corner,
With only 1. something seconds left before time,
my queen glanced at her king for
that final confirmation, and then advanced towards her target, sprung up released her weapon
as she landed,
and one crown fell to the ground as the bells begun to ring
I lost that game
