I could type "lol", or I could just say, "When I wrote this, I was laughing", or, "I think this is funny, it made me laugh". Should I do that for you?

 No, let your audience figure out if it was funny or not. They will let you know if it is.

I guess if my "audience" didn't include you, I could continue using whatever emoticon I wished, don't you think?

This post is irrelevant and poorly thought out; it made me lower my eyebrows and frown slightly.

 Do what ever you want, I was just letting you know how silly it is to tell your audience that you just said something funny.

I think that your inability to understand the concept of human facial expressions is sillier, and even more so your attempt to make it appear good. I felt smug and amused while writing this post.

I felt indifference at HW's post, but I was soon smiling again when I read your post, oinquarki. Though I felt an itch on my foot, I still was compelled to laugh(out loud).
