Recently, I've been getting a lot of popups when I go to Wikipedia asking for donations. They make it sound like they're in dire straits.

And then I watched these two videos:

And I kept my wallet zipped up...

It’s an okay quick reference but it is not always a reliable resource.

One item that tickles me - I regularly watch the "Security Now" podcast with Steve Gibson. For quite a while, the Wikipedia entry has referred to him as Steven "Steve Tiberius" Gibson. Well, the "Tiberius" part is a running gag between the host, Leo Laporte and Steve. WikiData gets it right (middle name is Maury), but the Wikipedia entry fell for the gag. Who actually entered the "Tiberius" part, I have no idea...

I hate to admit it, but I'll often use Wikipedia to look up the cause of death of people who have recently died. Not too long ago, I looked up Johnny Cash. If you just looked at his face before he died, you'd think he was in his 90s. I was astounded to learn that he died at 71.

Now that you mention it, there was some other gag like that that made it through. It’s going to bug me now, I just don’t remember what it was. I think it was something that made the news.

Yeah, lots of pills and alcohol, and then he got diabetes near the end.

Johnny Cash, an icon in the truest sense of the word. I’ve known hard core metal enthusiasts to country lovers to punksters who all loved the Man in Black. They don’t make ‘em like that any more.
