Lagrange Point Info Thread
I'm really looking forward to this!
Now, I wonder what species I'll have my character be... it's a really tough decision... cough cough aksol cough cough
yeah there is inter-species... mixing of genes but it's very uncomfy and doesn't result in offspring 9 times out of 10
the 1/10 it comes out as one of the parent's species rather than a mix
Any specifications as to the types of magic, or are we mostly free with making our own?
Can I, mayhaps, possibly, potentially, do a bit of (magical) genetic modification with my character (using a human base). It's really just a little change that only adds... well, no spoilers. I can only promise nothing too op.

This info is going to be for an RP thread posted in the very near future, so stay tuned for that!

This entire thing is also made in collaboration with @BlueHairedBoy13 as co-host so hooray for him!
The world of Lagrange Point takes place in the fictional equivalent of the 1700s, with gunpowder weapons and a phasing out of the old feudal order. Magic is in use throughout the world, though there is a major conflict between nations over how it should be used.
There are two gods in the world, each having untold power over the way things are. One of them wants to use magic as a tool and the other wants to use magic as a weapon. This isn't the only conflict between the two of them, but it is the most influential pertaining to the current conflict.
Nations
The nation in blue is the Kingdom of Sachily, a nation made up most by humans. Currently they've just undergone a unification war, and are dealing with the after effects of that. They're led by the Rex Unitus, with a moderate amount of centralization.
The nation in red is the Federated States of Vyshyre, a federation of numerous different states drawn together by a common enemy and their shared race. Each state is led by a Boyar, and to decide state matters they come together in a council. The nation is made up of Ghyradivi (Ghyradiv singular).
The nation in green is the Great Tian, a largely de-centralized and agricultural state. They aren't the most innovative nation, but they do command a gigantic population and are mostly a land-based power, their navy having been recently demolished. They're lead by the Huangdi, with individual provinces under the command of Imperial Governors. Their dominant race are the Gukeduhr.
The nation in orange is the Leux Empire, who are one of the more powerful nations in the world, commanding a vast naval and land host, along with being a driving force for innovation in the world. They're made up of Legertos and lead by the Emperador.
The nation in yellow is the Coastal Republic of Thalasneo. They're by far the most powerful naval force in the world. They control a majority of the minor islands around the world, along with a great amount of colonies. Their land might is doubtable though, the vast majority of their soldiers just being colonial police. Their big species is Aksols, and their head of government is the President and the Republican Assembly.
Sacihily, Vyshyre, and the Great Tian are all in a faction together, the Dreibund. The Leux and Thalasneo are also aligned together in an alliance aptly named the Dual Alliance. The two factions are currently at war. The god that supports magic as a tool backs the Dreibund, while the god that supports magic as a weapon backs the Dual Alliance.
Species
Humans - They're humans. Duh.
Aksols - Axolotl people, they stand on two legs. They need to "drink" water through their skin a lot more than other races and don't do particularly well in desert or low moisture environments. They tend to dress a lot looser by human standards. They're pretty non-vocal, only communicating through occasional chirps or squeaks that are impossible to decipher by non-Aksols. Mostly they communicate through pheromones, which makes it impossible to decipher their actions through hearing and makes them great for working in small units, easily able to outmanuever and out communicate other species.
Ghyradivi - They're blind bipedal mantis like creatures only able to sense the area around them through echolocation and vibrations. They favor the use of either melee weapons, or silent ranged weapons like bows and crossbows due to gunpowder weapons making disruptive noise. Their sense of fashion is either non existent or chaotic, like random scraps of metal thrown together, focused solely on efficiency and use rather than aesthetic. Their skin is tough, easily able to turn away melee weapons and weaker gunpowder weapons, while also being pretty strong.
Gukeduhr - They're void like humanoid creatures that look pitch-black no matter how much you look at them or shine a light on them. They're very stealthy, able to blend into shadows easily and sneak through the most watchful eyes. This void-like ability doesn't have any affect in their species, meaning that Gukeduhr can look at each other and see their real (non pitch black) forms among themselves. No one knows what their fashion styles is though apparently it's very vibrant and colorful. They also tend to make a ton more of themselves very often.
Legertos - Legerto are lizard-like humanoids, taller, stronger, and faster than humans. Their eyesight is fantastic, leading them to be excellent marksmen and scouts; Legertos with bad eyesight are comparable to humans with 20/20 vision. However they do have tremendously brittle bones, most blunt force will break one or two of their bones, meaning that their longevity in close combat leaves something to be desired. Along with that they're very susceptible to weather changes and require a ton of sustenance to keep going.
