I'll tell you this girl, if you're underage, be VERY careful about "girlfriends" or "boyfriends" you find over the internet.  You might just get kidnapped.

About 20 years ago i worked with a guy right out of high school.  He and his girlfriend dated since jr. high.  They both got into that world of war craft online thing.   About 6 months later she tells him she is leaving him for a level 47 wizard.  Some online lunatic she never net, fell in love with, and moved across the country to be with.  Oh the joy of the online relationship.  She was back a month later pleading for him to forgive her.  Thankfully he did not take her back.

Totally insane! They lived the game they were playing APPARENTLY. That’s absurd… lmao play war game and WAR became their life with along some yoyo wizard that was wasting her time and jacked their relationship unbelievable. =/

"Insane"?  Insane is relative.  Is it anymore insane to spend the majority of your time on a chess site trolling?  Or does it get justified by saying:  "im only having fun..."  Or "I dont meany any harm."  Or the popular: "Im just bored."  Why is being an online wizard laughable, but its normalized here to troll?  To pretend to be someone else?  They pretend to be a wizard, while people here pretend to be someone else.  Wouldn't some call it insane to expose your body to the punishment of playing professional football week after week and dealing with crippling body pain or the rest of your life, or killing yourself because of CTE?  Or do we justify it by saying: "they make a lot of money and live lives others would envy." or "Not that many develop CTE."

on the flip side i do know a couple that met on a minecraft server and now are already married (and its their 10th anniversary)

most times online dating is irresponsible because its so easy to do, its just some words and all but its not that it cant be done, sure there are kidnapping so you just have to stay vigilant you know

That sounds about right.

I came across a news clip of someone that had been chemically castrated as a kid because their parent wanted them to "transition".

Crazy backwards times we're living in.

I read a news story about a 10 year old boy that went to his parents and said: "I want to be a girl."  So they started the whole process to make the boy a girl.  And about 10 years later he killed himself over all of it.  There is a reason the suicide rate in the general population is 4% and 40% in the lgbtq population.  Not attacking just pointing things out.

persoanlly im all for rights and all but people are pushing this narrative on "woke" or teaching kids about this stuff - its actually NOT promoting equality and the oppsoite, the kids dont know what they actually get into and do it to seek praise or attention or to seem "normal" and therefore its actually worse

Eh...

Because of my very conservative religious education, as a kid I was taught homosexuality and homosexual sex are the same thing, and that it's something people choose (and also that only bad people choose it).

As a kid, I certainly wasn't having sex, and so I definitely never made any sexual choices, and I didn't feel like a bad person, so I knew for sure I wasn't homosexual... until I got older and realized that sex and romance and attraction are all different things.

As long as the kids are old enough to learn about it, I think it's always correct to teach the truth (and NOT teach the ridiculous nonsense I was taught).

Guys just stop arguing. Just say gl and move on.

In fact, it's kind of embarrassing, but I thought "gay" was like a dragon or a witch... something that exists in books or as a concept, but doesn't exist in real life.

So I knew I was attracted to guys, but I didn't think that was gay, because gay wasn't something that exists...

The main point of this story is you can't teach someone to be something they're not. Not only was I taught I was heterosexual, I was taught (at least I believed) homosexuality DIDN'T EXIST.

Turns out teaching a kid something like this doesn't change who they are... that's the point of my story, for anyone whining about a "woke" agenda hurting kids. You can't turn a kid gay any more than my parents and teachers and friends could turn me straight.

If you have read the posts here you would know that no one is arguing.  Now if you're trying to start an argument?  Good Luck.

Ah...Never mind...new account.

This is actually my 3rd acc because I keep having to disable them. And I just saw the novels everyone was writing and figured they were arguing. That's how it usually is on the internet

Now... the main problem that people don't talk about, is gay stuff often triggers a disgust response. People don't choose to be disgusted by homosexuals, they simply are, and so for them it's natural to want to keep kids away from that kind of conversation.

So IMO there's this double standard that no on talks about. People say "I was born this way you should accept me" but some people (in fact a lot of people) are born in a way that makes them feel disgusted when they see things like a homosexual, or maybe a person with a different skin color. These people are shamed as racists and homophobes, but they don't choose to feel disgusted, that's just how their brain works. You can shame them so much that they hide it, but they'll never stop feeling that way.

Of course that doesn't justify bad behavior, but it's still this weird double standard a lot of people ignore.

Avatar of llama36

And you know, I think if society can start having these sorts of conversations, on difficult topics, and move past the childish shaming stuff, that things would improve.

Yeah, I mean, "hate" is a strong word.

I think people naturally like to be in groups of people who are like them... as a mundane example, I'd be more comfortable in a room full of people who are about my height (and I'm an average height, so that's most rooms for me). If I was the one normal sized person in a room full of midgets or NBA players, I'd feel awkward, because those people don't look like me.

Of course I wouldn't be disgusted, or hate them tongue.png I'm just saying some anti-social feelings are natural. If I'm in a room full of strangers, I'm more likely to walk up and talk to someone who looks like I do.

My point being is what she did anymore "insane" then what people do here, or abusing your body in a professional sport?  Like i said.  Insane is all relative.  But i also understand why someone would accuse her of being nuts, but that same person would think trolling is acceptable.  Its what people are comfortable with and with what things they identify with.

What is the difference between being a level 47 wizard, and assuming a different persona online and trolling?

Lmao no argument there.. I easily say the wiz was a troll, indeed 😂
