Lumosity

Anyone here getting into lumosity.com?

I don't know if it's done much for my chess skills but I think it rocks.

Rocks. Nuff said. Penguin game? Effin Awesome. 

Yeah I love the penguine chase. I find it helps to tilt my head slightly as the maze moves around... I must look pretty stupid doing it.

Love eagle eye too. Freekin hate that cafe face recall game though... never very good with names or faces.

It is a great deal. The penguin chase is good if you use the compass. I think there was a compass pointing N when I played, or up I guess. Really gets your mind going. 

Yeah its a good workout. They say my BPI is improving but I wonder if they're giving me a pat on the back just so I keep paying. Its like they're saying "good job, yes you're special..."

No I think it really gets better. I was doing the daily workout and noticed a good improvement in my brain plasticidity. I will probably join again I was just short financially. 

It is certainly is pricey. Same goes for Chess.com. Almost $100 just so I can waste time on tactics trainer... 73.1 hrs I'll never get back. Getting better at solving the problems but I still get owned in real games. Threw my queen in front of a bus again last night (face palm).

lol well its worth it, esp if you learn transferable skills. I love games. You can learn so much. How long have you been playing. 

Been playing chess since was maybe 12 or 13 however I stopped when I discovered booze and girls. Picked it up again when I joined chess.com last November. My brother IL whipped me good so I thought Id join up and practice for the rematch (which is now building up to a WWF smackdown type event).

But serioulsy, I'd forgotten how much I loved it and wish I'd kept it up... but then again I may have missed out on some booze and women

You can have it all ya know, the booze, the women, the chess. . . dont tell your wife I said that lol she might decide you been doin too much thinkin and cancel your Lumosity account.

My wife doesn't care for lumosity. She thinks I'm playing some stupid video game. She's more of an english lit type thinker which makes her extremely difficult to argue with... really gotta pick ya battles

Using lumosity a lot only really made me better at using lumosity. My baseline lumosity rating climbed steadily for a long time but I never really felt any more intelligent.

The science says the increased working memory increases fluid intelligence but I don't personally think it does by much.

I stopped using it. The only thing that's improved my chess has been playing and studying chess. Although I could do with a lot more studying.
