in terms of the fighting style in common media, they both suck 99% of the time, but theres a few times where they both can be ####ING SICK AS HELL
if you put a Gun user vs Magic user though, depending on the type of media were talking about it could either be extremely one sided, or surprisingly balanced.
take my new favorite game for example: YOMI Hustle (Your Only Move Is Hustle)
theres a mage, which can float??? summon magic daggers??? and... lets see... summon light bulbs. ok.
theres also a gun user, cowboy, who uh... has a katana, a gun, and can... HE CAN ####ING TELEPORT WHAT
matches in YOMI Hustle can be super sick, since you basically play by doing frame by frame inputs, instead of like smash bros where you play "live." in YOMI Hustle, time freezes, and you have to predict what your opponent will do. then next frame, do the same thing. its super sick look it up.

Not going to lie though if we’re talking about advanced magic like the higher elemental styles, necromancy, space or time, and practically any type, after a certain point physical weapons don’t matter anymore
