That, my dears, is why I get so many posts on my threads.

It’s possible… nay likely… responses themselves are also performative. Don’t sweat it.

Yes, your life will be ruined if you can no longer post spam on the Chess.com forums…

In other news: I was blocked by a member in 2023 for being critical of their posts. I shall never recover from this fatal blow…

Lol. The forums have been filled with mindless spam and childish threads for years. When did the forums experience this ‘glory’ you speak of? The fact is, almost all of the children who dominate the forums will not join your club. When the club is inactive from the lack of members, they will all return to the forums (presuming they were even going to only be active in your club…). The only viable solution to clear spam from Chess.com is to enforce an age requirement to use the forums and to lift the ban on politics and religion. But the staff will never do this. They have to ‘keep the children safe’—despite ChessKid existing.

If you want a place to discuss meaningful topics here on Chess.com, your only hope is to join a debate club such as Open Ideas and Open Discussion.

Good to hear that you took this seriously. The club isn't mine, and I didn't plan to enforce anything to do anything that I posted.

Cute that you thought so, though.

I did take it seriously despite the fact that it was obviously a joke. Because I am tired of threads like this. Complaining about spam threads…while making yet another spam thread.

Most meaningful topics are banned from the main forums, limiting their discussion to small clubs. Essentially destroying the entire point of having an off topic section to the forums. If people do not want to see the hatred in some discussions about politics/religion…then simply do not visit those threads.

This is a problem that needs a solution. You cannot solve a problem without serious discussion. Something the forums need more of.

The problem of not having religion or politics has already been solved by allowing for clubs with any type of discussion you want to. Besides, not every serious discussion has to involve those two topics.

Key word: most meaningful topics

The problem is there are very few discussion clubs that are both active and contain a mix of both nonsense and educated beliefs. Some discussions clubs contain mostly nonsense (e.g. The Ideas Room) and little educated posts. They are also hard to find if you don’t know what you’re looking for. Harder to find clubs that try to have as little rules as possible.

Perhaps the best solution would be to find somewhere better than a chess site to find the type of discussion you’d like to see. Reddit and other sites would be much better than a club or OTF for what you’re looking for. It’s not chess.com’s responsibility to cater to people’s needs of certain discussion that has nothing to do with chess.

Reddit was where I did my political discussion…until I got permanently IP banned from the site. Why? Don’t ask me, they never told me.

The idea is that if you wish to discuss religion, politics, or any other topics like those, there are much better places to do it than here, including in real life.

Basix is obviously the president, but no one ever voted, so this isn’t a republic. Or a democracy. Basix, what form of government is OTF
