To the power of, when there's a decimal place, is roots

Avatar of mantine73

Since it is 2^0.85, it can be simplified into (2^0.01)^85, which is the hundredth power of 2, to the power of 85

Avatar of mantine73

Which is then simplified further by dividing 85 and 100 until you get the smallest whole numbers, in this case dividing by 5 to get 17 and 20

Avatar of mantine73

Oh wait I meant (20th root of 2) to the power of 17 I mixed it up

Okay picture this

2^6 is 64, right?

Avatar of mantine73

The square root of 64 is 8, right?

Avatar of ren97ren

Ya

Avatar of mantine73

(2^6)^(1/2)

Avatar of mantine73

2^3, by power of powers rule

Avatar of mantine73

2^3=8

Avatar of mantine73

And what's the cube root of 64?

Avatar of mantine73

It's 4 if u don't know

Avatar of mantine73

And that is (2^6)^(1/3)

Avatar of mantine73

Which, by power of powers rule, is 2^2

my brain currently not working

Avatar of ren97ren

It committed suicide

So 2^(1/2) is square root of 2, 3^(1/7) is 7th root of 3, and so on

Avatar of mantine73

And to get a number like 3^(3/4), you have to do 3^(1/4) times 3^3, which is the fourth root of 3, cubed
