Music Discussion

This is a forum where you can discuss anything to do with music (your favorite pieces, what instrument you play + how long you have been playing, etc.) I will start.

I am currently a senior in high school, have been playing music for 8 years, started playing trumpet as well this year. I am planning to go to college and major in music. One of my favorite jazz pieces is We Three Swing by Vince Gassi.

I'm pretty good at it, even though I have only been playing for 4 months. However, it is not an easy instrument to play! The mouthpiece is very small and the embouchure is very specific for the different partials.

TBH, only just started playing piano not even a week ago. My knowledge of music allows me to read the music easily, but actually playing it is a whole different story! I really suck, but I am doing my best to get better. You just have to keep working at it, or get a teacher to help you. My band director is one such person, she is always very supportive of me.

Another good piece that I like is To the Ends of the Earth by Timothy Johnson.

You can also post about any instruments you want to play in the future, and recommend any songs to me, from any genre.

I'm kinda glad that Kurt Cobain found his peace. I wouldn't want to watch him in advertisements for skin lotions or hot dogs.

No, I don't have any talent or joy in creating music by myself. I was forced by my mom to take piano lessons in my childhood, but to no avail; it felt like an anorexic person trying to come up with a 5-dish meal.

But I love music nonetheless. As with any other music-related thread, I'll keep following yours.

That is fair. Music can be very hard to pick up and I had trouble with it my first year of playing. And I appreciate that you are following this thread, trying to make it popular. (Also my very first forum ever.)

Trumpet is something that I myself have been playing for 4 months and I have gotten rather good in that short amount of time. Do you still play?

Well, I'm playing beginner music, but play trumpet in jazz band and concert band.

In jazz band, we are playing We Three Swing (great song!), SC is Coming to Town, and Sleigh Ride.

In concert band, we are playing White Christmas, Air and March, and Twilight Falls.

But the main instrument that I play is percussion.

IDK to be honest, its by Leroy Anderson. I havent heard any horse sounds.
