In general, people probably go with the one they heard first. I prefer Alison Krauss'. In fact, I hadn't heard RK's version until just now. His accent is a curious mixture.
Yeah, it is. But i don't personally mind it at all. As long as his songs are good and I have them, he could have an un-understandable accent

One requirement I impose on singers is that the lyrics be intelligible. For that, they need to be clearly enunciated and (preferably) coherent - unless sung in a different language. RK passes that bar.
