CCR is a classic! Had the good fortune of seeing John Fogarty with the Grateful Dead at an AIDS benefit at the Oakland Colosseum put on by Huey Lewis back in the 80s.. San Francisco Bay Area is the bomb for Concerts!
Sticking with Rock (never got into metal tho most my friends were).. My 3 picks in no particular order

CCR had heaps of great songs, Rush is good too (I just haven't listened enough) but Moving Pictures is a great album.
