My big break in show business, and how I broke it.

Yes please write something for us to read, Rick :)

If I get the time, sure.

My "new career" is pretty important to me, though. Picture the words "Applied Studies, Tactics School, Combat Training Center" on your C.V. or resume!

... so I'm going to be heavily focused on that, starting in about three weeks.

You got the job!!! Big congrats mate!! Laughing

Didn't I mention that? Yes, they sent me a letter of acceptance last month.

Only two seats available, with nearly 100 applicants from colleges and universities all over Atlantic Canada... and the two seats went to me and a classmate of mine. This, with me having only nine months training in IT.

I think the live interview impressed the hell out of them. That was my impression at the time, anyway. I was pretty confident that I had it in the bag, after sitting and talking with them that day.

Boogalicious

Well, that is flippin awesome man! Very happy for you! And what could be better than working in something you love doing Smile

RonaldJosephCote

If the interview impressed them, they may want to move you around, after you get your foot in the door. You'll do the job that they hired you for, but then you know, things will change, one thing affects another. My Dad started as a bus driver. When management found out he had experience with Insurance, they said, "you wanna work in the office with claimes?". He did. He loved to get OFF the road. Be a team player at 1st, unless you find out that same dumb broad from Hollywood is working there too.Yell

Boogy; We don't know if he's gonna LOVE working at a Combat Training Center YET!   A lot of accidents happen with rookies. I don't mean the Emu, I mean around him.  If people around you have a lot of stripes, and higher ranking officers, you'll be fine. But if you see a lot of 1 and 2 stripes, and 2nd lieutenants,  stay on your toes.

The contingency is remote.

... I hope.

RonaldJosephCote

hahahahahahahahahaha    it could be God's way of saying, Complete the Mission.  kill her Now.  What better place??  A combat training center.  friendly fire.  Pull a few grenade pins and just say Oops!!!  SORRY.  New GUY!    hahahahahahahahahah

Ben-Lui

Wow - all in a day's work! Great story!

AlCzervik

I thought it may have been because you invented this:

blueemu

Naw... those shysters just used my good name to sell their crummy products. They don't even pay me royalties!

AlCzervik

Yeah, talk about shysters-their website was blocked by my spyware!

O-O

Sad. I feel sorry for you, but at the same time....is this a true story?

blueemu

Yes, True story. You can't just make this sort of crap up.

I'm settling in well at the Tactics School on CFB Gagetown. No sign of the dumb broad.

RonaldJosephCote

The headline today said, "President Looking For Help From Abroad".      I thought which broad??Surprised      How's the new job BTW?    I'm making a site navigation video. Any ideas, suggestions, thoughts, the forum is General Chess Discussion, the thread is, "What Would You Like To See?".

Going well. Way too much to do, of course. IT support is always like that.

Raw Egg Grenade fight scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. Also our pseudo-military ID photos. Hopefully before the battle, not afterwards.

RonaldJosephCote

ahahahahahahahaha    You take care,  Good luck,  and post when you can.

I can't begin to imagine what it is that you're actually doing, or why you should be getting paid for it. Sounds fun though; any vacancies?

PS greetz from the achja chess group, we're missing you!

I work for National Defense, but as a civilian... so they don't let us use real grenades (raw eggs instead) or give us real tanks (we've got a virtual Leopard instead... a computer sim).

Yesterday I was helping unpack and prep a few dozen computer monitors, and get them ready for deployment. As I was opening one of the shipping crates, I turned to the guy beside me and said:

"I used to have a shitty job opening boxes. So I saved up my money and took out a student loan and went to college and took a really tough IT course and worked hard and studied hard and now I've got a shitty job opening boxes and owe thousands of dollars in student loan debts."
