Meditation is fking simple bro. Just get started and after lets say 2 months of it you will feel like a different person. 30 min per day is fine.

Hey I'm just asking the questions . I'm not saying this is the truth .

Just asking about the nature of relaxation , meditation , mindfulness , concentration and what these things can bring us .

This lady though is a published author and wrote for a magazine and has a phd . She's not a chimpanzee .

Could anyone else here devise a better explanation on the difference between mindfulness and meditation ?

Right , listening to my breathing ?

You just sit there and either stare at the wall or close your eyes. Then you calm your mind and be present to the moment. Takes some practise but get started instead of wasting your time here bro.

I've found that 'imaging' raises the quality, of experience.. {whether or not, that's the orthodox method!?} E.g. Thinking about, a favorite song.. {in my case, of the 'classical' genre`}.. and-or, Scripture-described qualities of the Divine - Or the role, that I assume.. every human, has to 'play' in this 'Greater' ongoing, Life- narrative! ..{even 'posting' in 99% + annonymity!}

I get these suggestions about just trying mindfulness and trying meditation . That's a valid suggestion !

I can find peace I think but if I can't I'll suet try meditation .

I was just interested to hear how others achieve peace .

Does it did that for you guys ? Can you meditate to peace ?

I focus my mind, on those things, {including music}.. whether playing-in-the-background, or not}- That, I regard as objectively edifying ..{'lifting' of ones' own psyche}. And, it need not, be 'God' related; Though, that seems to be the 'subject' that I 'image' most often.

.. For many people - Rather than a 'God' they have a harder time of spiritually/mentally, relating to - Let's say if they're a 'football' {or soccer}, avid follower - Then try focusing, on let's say, your favorite team -And-or, the mentally-imaged, details.. of an important game, they played! .. The object, as I understand it.. Is to get your thoughts, Off of, the 'Big- ME'!  0:

Some people are as crooked as a dog's hind leg, economical with the truth, and they are always in cahoots with someone, poles apart from falks like me and my bashfulness. Other than that, I sow the seeds of suspicion many times over, when the conference is boring, people vote with their feet. Truth to be said I'm not full of vim and vigour but that does not stop me to sail close to the wind.

The measures taken to reduce unemployment are just paper over the cracks. Everything should be taken with a grain of salt.

At the moment nirvana and meditation are like nailing jelly to the wall. No need to tell you that the situation is disastrous. The facts speak for themselves.

Rich states urged to lift migration aid. World Bank and IMF say crisis is a growing threat to global economy.

I give no credence to Annie Dalys concept of meditation. It is a bastardized western version formulated by her mind. It is an attempt to explain a very simple practice/ exercise of the mind in terms of western thinking (including herself). While things she explains have some validity, it misses entirely the traditional, very old meaning of true meditation. (Which is explained by very few words). No need for all that nonsense.

“At its core, meditation is when you intentionally set aside time to do something good for yourself,” explains Goldstein. And that’s all! Really. As long as you’re doing something good for you on purpose, whatever it is that may be, that’s meditation. “For instance, there’s exercise meditation, in which you intentionally set out to exercise to clear your mind," says Goldstein. "There’s prayer meditation, when you intentionally send prayers out to the universe. There’s music meditation, where the whole purpose is to relax you, and the list goes on."

This is gibberish. There is no list. What's being described is NOT meditation. It is someone's "made up" definition to suit their lack of understanding.

Meditation is an exercise of the mind. The purpose is to quite the mind of all thought. A new state of consciousness is reached. That's it. Nothing more. There are ways to help the mind reach this quite state (a mantra, not music as stated above). Exercise and prayer are defently not meditation as they involve conscious thoughts.

The benifits, the effects are another subject. Various claims are made.

Mindfulness: the practice of maintaining a nonjudgmental state of heightened or complete awareness of one's thoughts, emotions, or experiences on a moment-to-moment basis; also : such a state of awareness

Being mindful by definition involves conscious thoughts. You can Google and find "mindful meditation". The two are not compatble, not synonymous terms.

Meditation is a word that has come to be used loosely and inaccurately in the modern world. That is why there is so much confusion about how to practice it. Some people use the word meditate when they mean thinking or contemplating; others use it to refer to daydreaming or fantasizing. However, meditation (dhyana) is not any of these.

Meditation is a precise technique for resting the mind and attaining a state of consciousness that is totally different from the normal waking state. It is the means for fathoming all the levels of ourselves and finally experiencing the center of consciousness within. Meditation is not a part of any religion; it is a science, which means that the process of meditation follows a particular order, has definite principles, and produces results that can be verified.

In meditation, the mind is clear, relaxed, and inwardly focused. When you meditate, you are fully awake and alert, but your mind is not focused on the external world.

An est. 85% Non-Sequitur, Link ..{presented 'as is' -and re. " 'remote-viewing' "Jesus Christ"} - Surely, you've All heard of the latter..{'Jesus'} -But, as for 'remote-viewing' - an odd 6th sense {?} endeavor, in itself ! - The brief 'forward' .. gives a 'thumb-nail-sketch' definition. {and 'fwiw'.. I'm Not endorsing this method of 'finding out' stuff, as necessarily accurate}. Cheers
