UPDATE; My last entry was Sun,Mon. Thurs was a very tough day at the V.A. hospital. 10 cigs, no patches. However, today was 5 cigs and NO patches
I'll put the patch on tomorrow and hopefully do 4 or 3.
NO SMOKING!

I'm dubious about the tapering off approach, but if you can eventually get to zero and stick with it for five years, then I'd say you've found a workable approach.

I refuse to be cowed by the anti-smoking lobby.. I smoke.. I enjoy it.. I know it's bad for me.. I don't give a shit..
So get over it!
The points the anti-smoking lobby have are that:
-sure, it's bad for you (& as a consequence, your health bills are likely much higher which tends to affect us directly through higher taxes; your tobacco taxes may seem high but they no where near cover the added health costs)
-second hand smoke is almost as toxic/deadly as being a smoker (shame on you if you smoke in a home where others reside)
-third hand smoke (outgassing of fumes from residue on your clothing, in your hair, in your vehicle etc.) is toxic to those who are sensitive to smoke, and carries a small risk of their acquiring cancer, too

ps. We will never 'get over it' as it's a health and finance issue that directly impacts us and those we care about.

Its funny you should mention that because last week I did blood labs at the V.A. My doctor thought it was sugar at 1st. My sister said it was not enough Iron,--ferrotin. More test we're taken by a hemotologist who said it is what you say about white blood cells from smoking. She wants a CAT scan of my lungs. This Thurs I'll do another hypnosis session.

LOL Tell me about it. The house is full of Recee Peanut Butter Cups
Be careful with peanut butter, it is carcinogenic. You should only buy it in glass jars, and keep it in the fridge once opened. Organic is probably the best. Check it out on Google.

I'm not big bold at the moment. Been having problems with my keyboard on pc. Now it has stopped working so I'm on my mobile. Such is life.
Ps. Peanut butter causes cancer in rats.

If you can't kick the habit for health reasons then kick it so the govt don't get more of your earnings in high taxes.

I went 6 days in a row of just 5 cigs each day. Then I got lazy and stupid and didn't put my patch on. I smoked 10
I've got my patch on today and have had 4

I opted for chewing tobacco instead of smoking. The ladies might not like it, but amongst lumberjacks it's an ice breaker.
Two days in a row of just 6 cigs. I'll keep doing the patch and get that down to 3
If you keep weaning this way, I think you'll have success.
After that, it's all mental. avoid the triggers, and tell yourself you don't want to smoke.
