NO SMOKING!

Ron, its good going............but you havent stopped. Its harder to limit yourself to 4 or 6 or whatever a day then smoking nil, I know , Ive been there.(All you think of is when you can have the next cig).

Ive been stopped 31 years now, its not easy but you just must say 'this is the last one' , and mean it.

I can't do that petit & Pete.  I need to kill the physical appetite my body is calling for. I'm not strong enough to go cold turkey. I'm using the patch and my numbers are going down.

FRENCHBASHER001

Petit is right, anyway each experience of the other is useless, like in all addictions.

FRENCHBASHER001

funny to reactivate this thread the day there is a serious TOBACCO GATE in EU, just a coïncidence I guess

FRENCHBASHER001

"even heroes need a cig" etc ...

It took me a year or so, and there'll be withdrawals...when I was first began cutting down, and the last stage (when you're close to one-a-day).

And the last thing you need...is hanging out with colleagues and friends that smoke!

i disagree.

pick a date when you are done.

once done, hanging out with friends or colleagues should not be dependent on whether they smoke.

nb most of tobacco firms advertize on

"the one who totally stops is a loser"

"the containment is possible, you enjoy life better",

" a tough guy don't stop, he limits!"

etc ... to show that to control is possible.

happy.png in fact it isn't , if u have bad moments you go back to 20 cig/ day.

Business is business LOL.     10+ years to fight  https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/24/business/media/tobacco-companies-ads.html

1hey

I don't like the shopkeeper that sell cigarettes during my teens. Today i thank him because that save my day. By the way i don't like the smell of cigarette.

1hey

One more thing i don't like people that teach their colleague bad habits. So by that logic i survive even during college days.

FRENCHBASHER001

"By the way i don't like the smell of cigarette."  +1  ,

even smokers don't , and the cold ashtray full on the morning smells terrible.

One day, i realized that I loved the perfume of the UNLIGHTED tobacco ', then .. I stopped to lite cigs, i quit tobacco, and ...it is the method of the well known ALLEN CARR ,

"the cig i don't like is the one i lite!". Stop to lite it! easy ?? TEN YEARS to fight !!

Greetings.

RonaldJosephCote

Al your right. I'll still be friends with people who smoke but I need to do this for me not them.

FRENCHBASHER001

that 's good , it certainly will work too, like swimming , i did it too, ..btw two cigs, 50 m ,

better to stay in the virtual country" "come to where the flavour is.."

"take a break in the rush"

 ...

i loved those ads, really, and thought I was a cow boy!! like the pathetic Jon Voigt in NY streets,

(Mc Adam Cow boy (1972)).

that's it, ron. do it for you, your health, and your family. if your friends smoke, well, you didn't become friends due to cigs.

FRENCHBASHER001

what about that hilarious thread if he really stops ? hmmm.....

RonaldJosephCote

Sunday, I did 3 cigs but I did it while wearing the patch.  Today, I did 3 but WITHOUT the patch.surprise.png happy.png

if you want to quit, which is what it is, choose a date. i think you and i are similar in that we were hooked on cigs.

i tried your route for many years. patch, gum, etc. never worked (for me).

choose a date.

the problem with cutting down is that you still want to smoke.

choose a date.

the thoughts of when you can have the next cigarette are always in your head.

choose a date.

you really have to want to quit, to quit.

+ 1 Googol Al

"the good cig is the one I' don't lite" !  to stop is not a discontinuity, it is a ...break !

On a red light, you don't go slowly , cautious, ....

the catch is to diminish, think that u get the control which is not, and suddenly re-start on a 20 cig/day basis. our friend Ron is in the catch, like i was,  40 years, ...3 years ago now.

WHY ?

Diminish is marketed to help the manufacturers not to lose definitely the customer,

and this strategy works, the sales increase !

THE FIRMS SAY :

"The loser is the one who totally stops" "the positive value is the one who smokes and control, it is the hero!"

IN FACT IT IS LIKE "THE COW BOY concept" in the 60's, just false, of course.

PATCH cry.png :     a true story :

i did 3 miles per day each day 1994...swimming !

I kept the patch sometimes inside the pool, or I put it again outside the pool.

...and i lited my cig as a reward after swimming ! cry.pnghappy.pngcry.pnghappy.pngnervous.png
