so i was checking anish giri's fridge i saw he is not vegetarian,a thought came to my mind how many people are vegetarian in top 10... there were none tried in top 20 only 1 vishwanathan anand.as a lot of people are vegetarian in india this gives 5% of top 20 are vegetarian...so my question is does being vegetarian affect chess??? if it is it should be bad news right??..still its not imposible but 5% posible i think.

kartikeya_tiwari

is this a joke?

kartikeya_tiwari

I am a vegetarian but i don't understand if this is a joke or not. My guess is that it's a tryhard troll attempt

The OP asks a simple, easy to understand Q. Why does the rabid mob attack him?

Just answer his Q or be quiet. The answer is, no one knows but probably doesn't make any difference one way or t'other.

The issue is that the OP is a strong player. Having ratings of 2000+ in all formats and puzzle rating of 2890. It shows that OP is experienced enough to know that it does not matter, therefore i would identify it as a troll attempt

Just in case u were serious. No, being a vegetarian or not does not effect your style of chess play. Most people in top 20 are non veg since all of them come from european countries(few americans dotted in there) and in those countries eating meat is the norm. The day we have more people from india becoming super GM u will see this trend change

And vishy eats fishies., so not vege either.

But no need to make this about Indians except for the reactions. In this list there was just a guy called Dimitri who played chess.

Maybe because of limited and less varied nutrition,  being a vegetarian is not optimal from a health perspective.  I am not convinced however,  that being a vegetarian is going to prevent someone from being a good player by itself.

maybe it is i dont fully know i saw a movie about this too food does a lot..

I don't think being vegetarian will affect chess performance, totally disagree even though I'm not vegetarianism.

It's good to have varied sources of the same nutrients,  vegetarians are at a pretty big disadvantage.  That can translate to lower performance,  with the brain being no exception.  However,  I imagine that there are bigger things that separate the wheat from the chaff in chess.

Inventing_Invention

but there are very less vegetarians in top tier chess lik 2/100 puor vegeis

Inventing_Invention

i dont agree but have a doubt ofcource all are same and all can do but this doubt is so big cant ignore

Being a vegetarian is also a kind of knowledge, it depends on how you achieve your balance diet, the balance diets will be the one influence not just your chess performance but also health improvement.

I have senior schoolmates who could play board games better than me, he and she are both vegetarian.
