I think it is because they want to make sure you're not a bot. For me, if I start sending a lot of messages it starts doing it. As @Emmnesia said before.

I have the same problem.  Having to type in those captcha letters is sometimes easier said than done.

Oh yes and half the type you type them right but it says wrong! So anoyinnnngggggg

Still attacks me now. How am I getting them wrong? I'm not human? Chess.com captchas are so dehumanizing. 🤣

I don't understand the 'codes'
