Odds & Ends ( Part II )

Just saw some very cute clips on YouTube about Fiona who is a baby Hippo that was born prematurely. These videos show the staff at the Cincinnati Zoo working to save the little baby and she seems to be doing okay now.

One thing that is a bit odd with hippos is that they don't seem to swim as such. Instead they push off from the bottom of a pool and sort of " leap " up thru the water to reach the surface and get some air.

Just read a very interesting blog by FM Mike Klein on the infamous " Clothing-Gate " disaster now happening at the FIDE. Yes this is the case where Canadian GM Anton Kovalyov was insulted by a rather uncouth event organiser. It seems that this Chess-event organiser ( who claims to be such a big wheel in Chess ) has managed to make a mountain out of a molehill. I say send a couple of the Mounties over there to arrest that awful organiser   lol.

Important Tip: If you are about to go on a airplane trip be sure to Take Your Medical Papers Along ! Yup they had to drag another passenger off an airplane. This one happened on Southwest Airlines where a lady said that she could not be on a plane with any pet dogs sooo ---- the police had to remove her ( no she did not have her medical papers with her ). One error I noticed is that if they were going to take the woman away they probably should have sent female officers to do the job.

Btw people need to watch their bank statements, credit card bills, etc, due to the recent Equifax problems. Even false loans might be taken out under your name, be careful.

AlCzervik

it's not recent. the hack was in july. equifax, being the scumbags they are, waited months for it to be recognized. then, they wanted to charge customers to make sure they-equifax-had correct information. a real top-notch outfit. they probably have former enron execs running the show there.

Thanks for the post AlCervik. Yes they sure made a big mess of the situation, perhaps they will be required to pay a large fine.

Speaking of a mess it seems that Yahoo has also been asleep at the switch. Customer accounts at Yahoo are now in danger as well because someone has been able to get into their system.

AlCzervik

yahoo is another fine organization that provides zero customer service. unless, of course, you want to buy something. things have gotten so bad nowadays that, when i contact these companies with an issue, i first pretend i want to purchase their product. doesn't always work, but, at least it gets me to a human.

Sometimes people argue over very funny things. For example there are some big arguments underway up here in Edmonton and Calgary about setting up more bike-lanes. Yes in an area where riding a bike is fun for about 4 months out of a average year we " Really Need " more bike lanes   lol. However things might have gone a bit better if these trails had a different name: " The Bike, Skidoo & Skiing Lanes ".

Just saw a sad item in the news where a 46 yr old waitress has been charged with cheating a 84 yr old Widow out of $ 480 thousand dollars. The waitress first met the older lady back in 2002 and then spent  some years to gain her trust.  I imagine that the older lady didn't have any friends or relatives around to help her out and thus the crooked waitress had her chance to enrich herself.

If you know of someone who has a Pacemaker in might be a good idea to keep a close eye on them. I gather that in this age of cyber-attacks it seems that Pacemakers could also be affected ( & of course also keep them away from microwave ovens as well ).

i heard an interesting story on the radio today. a woman won $1 million on a scratch off lottery ticket. within a few days of that, she was arrested for shoplifting lipstick!

shadowcat53

I think if you're over 70 you're allowed to shoplift..   . .or should be..
