I have lived with cats for my entire life and I know what it feels like to say goodbye to a cat, but try to remember the happy times you had with the cat, and let the cat rest in peace.
That's a shame. Folks who don't have pets never seem to understand the bond and how devastating it is to lose a four footed friend. Of course you need time to grieve, but eventually a new kitten will make it's way into your life (and heart).
