Honestly the "person above/below me!" Threads are kinda pointless in general.
OTF and my thoughts on its problems.

This is all very true, and I appreciate how you emphasize the problem, which is that this forum page essentially is used as a destructive social media experience for kids who have been held back from doing such things on the official platforms, and as such, more effort should be put into preventing this kind of misuse, as most of these children are not old enough for nor should be engaging in these types of discussions.
Do you think they should crack down on people who are under 13? Or at least the immature ones?

The point of OTF is to have discussions that are of a different topic than chess, e.g. games, music, hobbies, etc. Off-topic has to be held to the same, if not higher standard than On-topic, and yet it isn't. I'm just pointing out the obvious flaws because nobody seems to acknowledge them, and when they do, unless they are well-liked by the community, they receive backlash and little to no support from people who try to justify the SLOP from the forums. OTF isn't just for 'weirdos' and/or 'outcasts.' Y'all ain't special, y'all are human just like us, but the misuse of these forums urks me. It urks me when instead of using OTF in an intended matter, it's used to bait people into saying weird/inappropriate/borderline idiotic stuff. Like can't you guys make conversations that are actually worth having instead of posting "will you date the person above you." C'mon!

Chapter 2: Willful Support of Destruction
- I noticed this a while ago, but it becomes more apparent when you actually look at it. People really like defending OTF to the point of no return. They like denouncing it as a ‘place for outcasts’ or ‘area for people who are considered weird’ etc etc. There’s even some of these guys in the forum I made and am currently writing on!
These are examples from inside the forum I made. Here’s the earliest example of me encountering one of these “defenders” as I call them:
These people believe OTF is a place to “goof off” and be “children” or act childish. No. It isn’t. It is a place to speak of topics not related to chess or chess.com. It is still (or was) held to the same standard as some of the other forum topics (e.g gen chess diss, fun with chess, etc) and should be for the future. It is evident that there are problems on OTF that can be rectified, but these OTF defenders prefer to keep OTF as it is now, and that is not correct at all. Look at all the brainrot and idiocy on these forums. The only reason we barely have reasonable topics to discuss is because people make brainrot forums and other people get discouraged and walk away before ever making a post. Obviously, there is a high probability that any forum made on OTF will be overshadowed by brainrot forums or forums that fish for comments.
End of C2. C3 soon.

OTF wasn’t always like this, there are still people that are sensible, and I’m not saying that you’re saying there’s toddlers here. As for the “OTF being a place for weirdos”, any places are for weirdos, (not like those WEIRDOS WEIRDOS-) and OTF is basically a hangout. OTF can be a place to goof off at, like with bantering. Yes, this is a chess site, and I don’t really get why they make this a somewhat of a “social media”, considering this is a chess site where people play, learn, or watch chess.

Good post. Not one of the main problems I would say, and more that kids have kind of taken over here. Unfortunately for everyone, they are right, saying that it is a place for immature children to hang out. Is it over for OTF? Perhaps.

Just felt the need to point it out. Its a minor problem but it accumulates and eventually these people will make up a large portion of OTF. Changing it then will be impossible.

... These people believe OTF is a place to “goof off” and be “children” or act childish. No. It isn’t. ...
Don't really see a problem with this - Observational comedy is great and curious children ask the best questions.
Unfortunately what the poster actually meant by goof off and be childish was to spam and act like brats.

BONUS! Sub-Chapter 1: Mislabeling
- (Sub chapters will not contain picture evidence and will be significantly shorter than real chapters. Some sub chapters will correlate with OTF but not directly be OTF itself. This forum is a test to see if these are good.)
Sometimes I see OTF forums that are mislabeled as something they shouldn't be (e.g Gen chess discussion) and I see other OTFers interacting with it, which boosts it to recent activity. Please don't do that; recent activity is supposed to only contain chess related forums. You can help by telling the poster to change it back to OTF.
