These movies are great. All Christopher Nolan movies are, to be fair.

I'd recommend 'The Prestige'.

I enjoyed the Dark Knight trilogy and the John Wick franchise

The Matrix trilogy. Of these, The Matrix Reloaded (2003) was my favorite. I’m of the opinion that the second entry into trilogies is usually the best. The first entry is often encumbered by character introductions , exposition and following a formulaic pattern. The second entry more often expands into more imaginative situations and worldbuilding. The first Matrix, although great, lavish and necessary for the story, followed a fairly formulaic chosen one call to adventure trope. The Matrix Reloaded expanded into more interesting mysteries and imaginative battle sequences.

I went to see Tron: Aries in 3d. The style of the special effects, strange environments, and vibrant trails of colorful lights made the 3d effects very beautiful. The 3d effects really popped. It was the most striking application of 3d effects I’ve seen since Avatar (2009). This one is definitely worth seeing on the big screen, in 3d. The story was interesting, but of the majesty of this movie will be lost when it leaves the cinema.

The Matrix was a great standalone film, but the trilogy was a complete waste of time. I know they were only in it for the money, but The Matrix would have been much better as a single film rather than a complete series.

And, there are very few movies where I could definitively say that the second was better than the first.

Most people do say sequels aren’t usually as good, but I was thinking about this.

I liked The Two Towers more than The Fellowship of the Ring, The Empire Strikes Back more than A New Hope, Matrix Reloaded better than Matrix, Aliens more than Alien, M3Gan II more than M3gan, Glass Onion more than Knives Out, The Wrath of Khan more than Star Trek the motion picture. The Road Warrior and Beyond Thunderdome I also liked more than the first Mad Max. The funniest comedy I ever saw at the cinema was Goldmember, Austin Powers III. To this day, I think that one is probably the best of the trilogy.

One that stands out in my mind as an inferior sequel was The Lost World. The first Jurassic Park (1993) was the best.

They Live was a hilarious movie that was rediscovered the past decade. I remember people making a lot of memes based on They Live for a time.

Speaking of The Matrix, a similar movie from around that time was Dark City (1998). A mysterious city where it is always night rearranges itself and alters the memories of its inhabitants while they sleep. A visually striking and supremely atmospheric movie.

It was one that the famed critics Siskel & Ebert both gave a thumbs up. I remember it as of the last movies they talked about on their show. Gene Siskel died the next year.

Just watched house of dynamite. It was very, very, very intense and very good. Very much worth watching.

I watched 'Mean Girls' again yesterday, and saw The Black Phone 2 recently. Both of these movies were just ok.
