Patterns Database

Hi,

I'm new here.

I'm trying to join to things that I like, chess and data mining.

I'm looking for a database of chess patterns, my idea is to compare this database with the database of the historical games and try to look for clustes of patterns in the games.

Does anyone have any idea where I can find this type of database???

Thanks.

I'd say a master has well over 300,000 patterns in their brain, probably many, many more...  It takes years of dedicated study to put these into your head. I'd start the process by cataloging checkmates (ie. paulson's mate, smothered mate, hook mate, back rank mate...) and go from there... Openings, pawn structures, tactical motifs, fortresses, stalemate patterns... the list goes on... try googling "Mating patterns".   It seems like the easiest way to start... but I must say,  this sounds like a project that will take you more than a lifetime...
