Perception

Unfortunately, that is a supposition for most people, simply because they are always thinking. So in order to answer that question, one must actually stop thinking.

But instead of asking what stops it, perhaps we can ask why do we think--mostly about ourselves, during the normal course of the day? What keeps it going?

Is it not a perceived center? So unless this perceived center loses its center-stage position, thinking will continue--in this field.

you cant fight against thinking i guess...........what you resist it persists........

Perhaps you can't fight against thinking because you are it. How do you fight against yourself? You are only fighting when you think you are not it. But if you are, it's impossible.

we are not our thoughts you know it i know........we are not our body.........maybe we dont exist as we imagine we do

Avatar of troy7915

To 'know' that is another thought, another piece of knowledge. You see, the perception of a center is real for most people. How does that center dissolve itself? If the center is there, then we do exist. But we are saying that perception can change. How?

Avatar of carolina0509L

the problem is that you put it in a form that it  seems to be nowhere to go......

Avatar of troy7915

That's right, there's nowhere to go! Which changes the whole perception at the drop of a hat.

We must be careful not to assume anything, as speculations are worth nothing here. The perception of a center must end, or else all this is merely theoretical.

when you dont think...........thats your true nature no?

yes, like in a daydream- there are no thoughts.  But then suddenly like a long train of railroad cars the thoughts come streaming back and we are awake again...

A daydream  IS a succesion of thoughts.

.. Seems, reasonable, {see below}.. And, it may have explained, my recent posted, semi-'hissy-fit'.. Since, in my Real world.. It's hard to explore the boundaries, of controversy, when I'm out, buying a bottle of juice! .. {thanks, btw, 'Tom'.. for bearing with me, yesterday, if you happen, to read this!}.

The person who suffers cannot relate to anybody, rendering the advice useless. Unless one can see, they cannot try to relate to others because one schmuck said it. If perception doesn't change, one is bound to remain isolated.

The only true religion is fly fishing. If you want to change your perception to something that is healthy and centering, you need to stand in moving water and swing a stick, preferably very cold moving water.

The point is, you cannot know what you want perception to change into: it's not a trade off. If you know beforehand what's gonna be changed into, it's not really a change.

There's an inherent danger, in keeping one's mind, Truly 'Open'.. As, Not All thoughts, {eminating, from 'lower force'/negative, 'spirits'}, are worthy of repeating, or acting upon!

.. Though, I would Not expect the 'op' to have knowledge of that, qualification, advisory ; Except, erroneously ascribing, this latest mentioned factor ; As, a long-discredited, perhaps, form, of 'Superstition'. - It's, Really, Not !

Which, is why the 'Good Book' advises us, to "Test' the 'spirits' ".. {meaning, thoughts}.. Which are, a Notorious form, of 'Stray' thoughts, that manifest, with Everyone ;  Practically, daily.. It would seem !  o:

The advice is worthless: is the factor doing the testing separate from what it is being tested? The superstitious brain believes so, hence its division between 'good thoughts' and 'bad thoughts', between a 'me' creating the image of god and the image of god.

 An error of perception.

Another erroneous advice: the same superstitious mind believes in an entity capable of control, which is essentially the belief in authority, the result of fear. Very unaware of itself this superstitious brain, generally speaking.

.. Illustrative, of how in a 'News' sense; How perceptions, can change; Given the passage of time, and more incoming, information. {'btw'.. I'm Not trying to 'score' a debating 'point'.. which, are pretty worthless here, in Any event!}.

The person, who turned out to be, the culprit/ offender, in a 'Wrong-way-driver' incident, in the past, 3 plus days.. Managed, to receive a somewhat glowing obituary, before all the facts, were known, in a byline, dated, 'April, 14th' {2017} -- Killing, 2 fellow innocent 'coeds', at the same 'Christian' college, in a later, news update. ..{linked}
