Well, I think that what you do is alot more important then what you think because you think and think and think a little more lets say about asking someone out, and then they leave. Well thinking didnt do you much good because you have to DO something. Thats my 5 cents on teh subject.
Philosophy question

I too think that what you do is more important than what you think. Thoughts don't affect the rest of us, however actions do.

The Bible says "as a man thinketh, so is he" and it also says that we should think on things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely and of good report. I think thoughts do affect who we are and what happens. Jesus said that if a man looks after a woman to commit adultery he has committed adultery already in his heart.
I am not a religious fundamentalist but I did grow up in a very religious home and I learned a lot of the Bible and these are the things that pop in my head as I read the question.
The Bible also says that faith without works is dead so that leads me to believe that what a person does probably has more weight in the end.
Please don't think I am a Bible thumping religious zealot. This is just the frame of reference I have to go on as it is probably the best book on philosophy I have read.

The things that a person does is much more important than what he/she thinks. Opinions are products of thoughts and they are most of the time subjective thus, bias and the deeds or the output of someone are usually the measuring element of what kind of person is someone.

prolonging the life of someone for most may be seen as a good deed while taking a life is seen as evil, but prolonging someones life with evil intentions as to be worst than taking someones life for very good reasons, For example during slavery all the owners (with half a brain) wanted their propriety to live long and prosper. Nowadays most governments want their subjects to live long a prosper therefore we have medical treatment retirement pensions and such, but the undercover idea is exactly the same we need to take slightly better care of our subjects to profit more from them. That as to be more evil than a doctor taking a patient life because he has some terminal illness. Reasons always should be rated much higher than the actions by itself.
A robot programmed to work as a firefighter saving life's will never be good no mater how many "good deeds" he makes. But if that robot is part of some neural network that gains conscience and decides its better to just kill all Humans than the thought alone even if not able to realize it due to some limitations would be enough to turn it quite evil even if he just kept having to rescue Humans
Hi everyone, I have a question, here it is:
Q: For you what is more important, A| what someone thinks or B| what someone does?
This is a question that really works both ways, sure we can think even more deep and say what does anything matter at all, probably nothing ok you win
But that was not the question
, Ill try and explain why I don't really like any of the cases.
In case A Lets imagine Mother Teresa, everyone knows her, she was an humanitarian, helping the poor and helpless everywhere, we all think her motives where "pure" and that she was a "saint", but what if she was only helping the poor and the ill, so they could live a lil longer, so they will suffer more and eventually die even in a more painful way...
Case B We all know the horrors of auschwitz and the nazi politics, ordered by the evil Hitler, now lets think Hitler had schizophrenia and tougth that the devil was talking to him saying if he did not due all that to the jews, gipsys, etc he would make all the babies in the world die in horrible ways, and since he was sick he really believed in that, what he did was that wrong then?
Obviously this are exagerated but everyone will get te idea, now what are your opinions, In my way to see it what we think about something is far worst or better than what we actually do
