I see no reason why France can't even be contenders. They'll easily make it to the quarters unless they have a tough opponent beforehand. There's not an international team that can easily beat France, in my opinion.
Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Belguim, England, Portugal, Gemany... and the list goes on.
