"One who doesn't think they can learn something from everybody they meet has learned nothing"

ProfessorProfesesen

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

ProfessorProfesesen

One is still what one is going to cease to be and already what one is going to become.

In the bleary hours of this morning, I was in deep conversation with someone about the monarchy and the continued need for it.  It actually got me reluctantly analysing my thinking... are we better off with or without a royal family?

My thoughts:  I enjoy the Royal family being sales people for my country; I don’t have any references or historical links to justify my general perception of them but I feel proud to be British because of them... the same way I feel when I see The Red Arrows, the Armed Forces and Big Ben and little things like roast lamb, fish and chips and the BBC.   I think they serve a purpose, they serve us ... and if they stop doing so... then we can stop handing over the yearly 56p or so from every British tax payer to them.

At the same time, when the throne does become vacant, it is very hard to justify to someone that no, you can’t have a crack at the highest public office job in the country because of who your parents are(n’t).

Please stick to the thread rules... it's not too difficult.

The 1% rule states that the number of people who create content on the Internet represents approximately 1% (give or take) of the people actually viewing that content. For example, for every person who posts on a forum, generally about 99 other people are viewing that forum but not posting.

The "90–9–1" version of this rule states that for websites where users can both create and edit content, 1% of people create content, 9% edit or modify that content, and 90% view the content without contributing. [Wiki]

I just want you to know... I'm usually wearing a vest that has "I am silently fixing your spelling and correcting your grammar" written on it. (Albeit in very small writing).  Wink

Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton have divorced. They had a prenuptial arrangement over who got what. Hmm, I wonder why they married if they planned to divorce!
