I'm with Gomer ..... "Casablanca" was the best movie ever. I say "Gone with the Wind" is number two and "Dr. Zhivago" as number three. "Shawshank Redemption" and "Forrest Gump" are up there also. Sleepers: "The Defiant Ones" ( Sidney Poitier and Tony Curtis), "Lonely are the Brave" (Kirk Douglas) and "Out of the Past" (Robert Mitchum and Kirk Douglas)
The Maltese Falcon is tippity-top for detective flicks.
Honorable Mention: "Shane," "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," "White Heat," "Das Boot" and "The Enemy Below"

Yes, the movie of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" does the novel justice. Check it out.
Godfather I and II were super. III was sub-par however.

I must add Jane Campion's "The Piano" to the list. I have a deep love for that film
Anything with Harvey Keitel is worth watching.
